Thiago Silva’s Early Life
Silva was born on 22 September 1984. He was taken to a Christian family. Mourinho, the coach of Fluminense, was impressed by 14-year-old Silva during a friendly match in Xerém. During his brief tryout, he was assigned to defensive midfield. Due to limited playing opportunities, Silva decided to try out for other clubs. At the age of 15, Silva tried out for Madureira, Olaria, and Flamengo in 1999. He was turned down at each club, with Flamengo’s audition proving the most challenging because no coaches were present.

Silva started his senior club career as a midfielder in 2002 for RS Futebol. When he was at Juventude, he anchored the defensive role. In 2004, when he was 19, he was signed by FC Porto and transferred to Dynamo Moscow on loan. At 23, Silva got a call for his senior international debut in 2008. Since then, he has been capped more than 100 times for Brazil’s national team. In the 2008 Olympics, he claimed a bronze medal and a silver medal in the Olympics of 2012. When he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 in a deal that might have cost up to €42 million, Silva set a historical trade in associate football at the time, making him one of the most expensive defenders in history. Later, he managed to secure the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013 and fourth place at the FIFA World Cup 2014 by captaining the Brazil national team. Silva has also assisted Brazil in lifting the trophy of Copa America 2019.
